HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY Grade 11 or 12 (Prerequisite: Biology, Honors Biology or concurrent with either and teacher recommendation)
Human Anatomy and Physiology is a course designed to aid students in acquiring a practical knowledge of basic scientific facts and principles in five areas concerning the human body: they include organization, support and movement, positive and negative control systems, homeostasis, and maintenance and continuity.
Laboratory work includes microscopic examinations of cells and tissues, observations of chemical reactions, gross examinations of organs and systems, dissection of higher vertebrates, conducting and interpreting physiological experiments. The use of modem technological devices will be incorporated in many labs where applicable. These experiences offer opportunities to help the students in their development of scientific curiosity, powers of observation and general initiative. The students learn to work as part of a team and apply the facts and concepts, and principles that are presented in class. This class meets 5 periods per week
